ROYAL TYAGI FAMILY OF TAJPUR
Raja Bahadur Pratap Singh(Brahman by caste) died in 1873 leaving three sons: Kunwar Jagat Singh, Kunwar Shiam Singh and Kunwar Shiv Nath Singh. After His Death His Eldest Son Raja Jagat Singh Sahib Succeeded as the Raja of the Tajpur State and was given the personal title of Raja Bahadur.
He was eldest son Kunwar Jagat Singh Sahib succeeded as the Raja of the Tajpur State in 1873. He obtained the personal distinction of the title of “Raja Bahadur”
Raja Bahadur Jagat Singh Sahib ruled over the Tajpur State For Twelve Years. He Was Very Dynamic And Daring Person, He Further Consolidated The Tajpur State.
Achievements Of Raja Bahadur Jagat Singh
a) Was Awarded The Title Of "Raja Bahadur".
b) He Was Presented By The "Coat Of
Arms".
c) The Title Of "Raja" Was Bestowed On All The Successive Heads Of The Family And Was Declared Hereditary Descendants (Line - 1). on his
d) He made additions in the "Pratap Singh Hindu Girls Inter College" in Moradabad, UP.
e) He Constructed The Famous "Hathi Wala
Temple" (The Elephant Temple) In
Moradabad, UP.
f) He Constructed A Magnificent "Ram Bagh Palace" In 1866 In Tajpur.
g) He constructed "Agriculture Institute" In his palatial Kothi in Bijnor,UP.
h) He constructed a Palace at Dhampur.
He was the elder son of Raja Bahadur Jagat Singh Sahib, he was born in 1876. In 1885, he was a minor at the time of the death.
Raja Dig Bijai Singh Sahib was the younger son of late Raja Bahadur Jagat Singh Sahib of Tajpur State, District Bijnor, UP. He was born in 1880 and was very young when his father died. Raja Dig Bijai Singh Sahib along with his elder brother Raja Randheer Singh Sahib studied at Stonehurst a Public School in England for twelve years.
Return To Tajpur State & Family Division Of 1902
After his return to Tajpur, he lived in Roshanpur Pratap near Nagina. The village Roshanpur was created by Raja Bahadur Pratap Singh Sahib, hence the village was called Roshanpur Pratap. In his share of the State he received 19 Villages and share in Nagina and seven Villages and one share in Nehtaur, paying revenue of Rupees 13,267/-. His share of property was looked after by the wife of his elder brother, Rani ML Hira Dei since he was a minor.
Achievements Of Raja Dig Bijai Singh Sahib
a) He consolidated the land holdings of Line -1 of Tajpur State after the death of his elder brother.
b) He constructed the Mahal Sarai Palace in Tajpur.
c) He constructed Goddess "Sheetla Mata" Temple and the “Lord Shiva Temple in Tajpur.
Raja Jasjit Singh Sahib was born on 02 January 1915. He inherited the Tajpur State after the death of his father Raja Dig Bijai Singh Sahib in 1922. He was a Minor at that time; therefore, the State was looked after by the “Court of Wards” till such time he became a Major.
Contributions During World War II
Raja Jasjit Singh Sahib rendered support to the District administration all important issues pertaining to the Bijnor District. He pledged all the resources of the Tajpur State. He rendered whole hearted support to the British Government during the World War II, by making generous contributions and donations in India's War efforts. He gave generous financial contributions in the "War Purposes Funds". He gifted his favorite personal weapon, a Webley WG Army Model Pistol and auctioned his shikar trophies to generate funds. He volunteered to join Army in Mechanized Cavalry and fight the World War II.
His Contributions During The World War II Were As Under:
a) He offered all the money that the Court of Wards had paid in excess revenue to the Government that was due to the State amounting to Rupees 7000/- with interest.
b) He lent the services of his manager of the State, Major John Weikfield, (Retired) for field. Who was sent to OTS Mhow and he went to F V School Ahmed Nagar for training.
c) He contributed Rupees 1000/- annually till the period of World War II, in the War Fund.
d) On 09 September 1940 in a letter to His Excellency Governor of the United Province, he” Pledged all the resources of the Tajpur State” at the disposal of the Government.
e) On September 1940, He also volunteered to serve in any Respectable Officer in the district for the duration of War.
f) In January 1941 He donated his personal Pistol, Webley WG Army Model, Registration No: 20756 as contribution to India's War effort.
g) In 1941-42, During the Congress insurrection, he helped to restore the Law and Order and also assisted in suppressing the rebels who attacked the Police station Nurpur, District Bijnor,UP.
h) In 1942 he offered the Nurpur House in Village Nurpur, which is 8 Kms from Tajpur in district Bijnor, UP for "The use of Evacuees".
i) On 14 February 1942, at the age of 27 years he offered his services in the Mechanized Cavalry.
j) On the request of the Collector Bijnor, for the Red Cross week from 17 to 24 March 1943 for the Fancy Fare in Bijnor, he instructed his manager Pundit Roop Narian Sharma to send Shikar Trophies for sale.
k) He also donated huge quantity of Silver Ornaments of his fleet of Elephants.
L) In 1944 He gave Rupees 10,000/- as a loan to the Government.
Appreciation For His Contribution During World War II
Raja Jasjit Singh Sahibs dedicated support and generous contributions in India’s War efforts during World War II were appreciated by The Viceroy at Delhi,His Excellency the Governor of the United Provinces,Commissioner Br.
Achievements Of Raja Jasjit Singh Sahib
1. Consolidated the land holdings of Line- 1 of Tajpur State after the death of Rani ML Hira Dei, widow of Kunwar Randheer Singh. It is the biggest" Tyagi State "in the Country.
2. He extensively contributed toward India's
efforts during World War II. He pledged all the
resources of his State and made huge financial
contributions to British Government. 3. During the World War II he offered to serve in the Army in Mechanized Cavalry and Gifted his Pistol Webley for the world War.
4. After the Congress Insurrection he prevented the British Government from burning the villages; They were, Gopalpur, Mussepur, Jamalpur and Fena.
5. Purchased "Priyatama" Two-Seater L-5 Air Craft.
6. Renovated the Bijay Niwas Palace at Tajpur Constructed a Gurudwara on his land and donated it.
7. Constructed "Lal Surkhi Road" also called "English Road" from Tajpur to Seohara.
8. Tajpur was renamed as Raja - Ka - Tajpur.
9. Re-Constructed the Goddess "Chamunda Mata" temple at Raja-Ka-Tajpur.
10. Opened Shikar company “The Kumaom & Hunters Private Limited".
11. Created shooting Team The "Tajpur Wanderers".
12. Was the Founder Member of DRA (District Rifle Association), Bijnor,UP.
13. He constructed Gurudwara "Shri Singh Sabha" at Raja-Ka-Tajpur.
